LOCATIONS AND ATTRACTIONS WITHIN EASY REACH OF THE HOTEL The Pilgrim's Rest Hotel is near the heritage town of Lismore and the pretty fishing village of Cappoquin in the County of Waterford, Ireland. It is beautifully situated adjacent to mount melleray abbey and close to the Glenshelane river at the foot of the Knockmealdown mountains.
In the year 1171 King Henry II of England ordered the building of a castle in the town prince John completed the work in 1185. Lismore Castle was the birthplace of Robert Boyle the scientist whose name lives on in "Boyles Law"

The Vee Drive, a pass between the Knockmealdown and Comeragh Mountains, has stunning views. There are many walking trails including the Glenshelane river walk. There is a beautiful harbour at Youghal and there are some extremely beautiful beaches at Clonea and Ardmore just to mention a few!
